Privacy Policy

This site is free to read and funded by advertising. That has consequences for your data, and this page explains them without hiding behind legal padding.

What we collect ourselves

Almost nothing. There are no accounts on this site — you cannot sign up, and we hold no name, email or password for any reader.

  • Your progress, if you use it, is stored in your own browser's local storage. It never reaches our server, and clearing your browser data erases it.
  • The code you write in exercises runs entirely inside your browser and is never sent to us.
  • Standard server logs — the page requested, the time, a browser identifier — kept briefly to spot faults and abuse.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics to count visits and see which lessons actually get read. It sets cookies and reports the pages you viewed, roughly which country you are in, and what kind of device you used. We see totals and trends — never a name, and never you personally.

  • It tells us which lessons to finish next and which ones to rewrite. That is the whole reason it is here.
  • You can switch it off with Google's opt-out add-on, and any content blocker stops it too. The lessons work exactly the same either way.

Advertising

We show ads from Google AdSense. Google and its partners use cookies and similar technologies to serve and measure them, which may include showing ads based on your previous visits to this or other sites.

  • You can control personalised advertising in Google's Ad Settings.
  • If you are in the EEA or UK, you will be asked for consent before any personalised advertising cookie is set, and you can change that choice at any time.
  • We do not sell your data to anyone, and we never receive your personal details from Google.

Being straight about this: advertising is the reason the lessons cost nothing, and advertising involves tracking. If you would rather avoid it, a content blocker works fine here and the lessons will still function.

Readers under 16

These lessons are written for teenagers, and we assume many readers are minors. Where a reader is identified as under the age of consent, Google is instructed not to serve personalised ads. We ask you for no personal details at all — there is no account to create, no name and no email — though the analytics and advertising described above still apply to your visit, and a content blocker turns both off.

Other sites we link to

Lessons link to documentation, tools and our own Academy. Once you follow a link, that site's privacy policy applies, not this one.

A note on our other site

wasilearn.com, our early-learning games for ages 2–6, carries no advertising at all and never will. It is a separate product for a much younger audience, with its own, stricter policy. Nothing described on this page applies to it.
